Hosted by: NAHAM – the National Association of Healthcare Access Management

In spite of broad implementation of barcoded patient ID, there are many additional steps that hospitals need to take in order to improve patient safety through positive patient identification. These steps enable hospitals to improve the barcode scan rates to 99%, prevent clinician work arounds, and reduce the hospital’s legal budget. Also discussed will be other time and money savings considerations.

Learning Objectives:

  • How to eliminate scan errors
  • The differences between laser and thermal printing of wristbands and labels
  • 2D barcodes vs. linear barcodes
  • All of the parts that make up an effective patient ID system and how they can work together effectively as part of an integrated system
